FBR Tax Return Deadline 2026: Extended to 15 October
✦ TAX DEADLINE UPDATE ✦
15 October 2026
Tax Year 2026 · Returns originally due 30 September 2026
Last checked: 2 October 2026
The FBR tax return deadline 2026 has been extended to 15 October 2026 for taxpayers whose income tax returns were originally due on 30 September. The extension gives eligible taxpayers extra time to complete their filing.
FBR announced this through Circular No. 3 of 2026–27, dated 30 September 2026, under Section 214A of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.
Who Does the Extension Apply To?
Check your original filing date. This circular covers returns due on 30 September 2026. It should not be treated as a new deadline for every taxpayer or every type of tax return. If you use a special tax year or have a different due date, confirm which rules apply to your case.
Which Period Does Tax Year 2026 Cover?
For a normal tax year, Tax Year 2026 covers 1 July 2025 to 30 June 2026. This follows FBR’s rule that a normal tax year ends on 30 June and takes its name from that calendar year. A special tax year may cover different months.
What Should You Do Before Filing?
1. Check your access. Make sure you can sign in to your filing account and review your registered details. Resolve access issues early so they do not delay your work.
2. Gather your records. Keep the income, bank, tax deduction and other records relevant to your return together. Use figures supported by your documents instead of estimates.
3. Review the return. Check the tax year, income figures and any other information required in your case. Ask for help if your records do not match or you are unsure how to report an item.
4. Confirm completion. After filing, check that the return has been submitted. Keep a copy of the filed return and the submission record for future reference.

Should You Wait for Another Extension?
Plan around the confirmed date above. Do not delay filing because you expect more time. Before relying on any later deadline, check a fresh official FBR notice and make sure it relates to the correct tax year.
